Syntactic Foam
Cuming Microwave offers a series of Syntactic Foams designed for low loss and low dielectric constant. Typically these materials are manufactured using low loss resin and micro-balloons. These lightweight high strength materials come in a variety of densities and strengths.
Cuming Microwave manufactures Lossy Syntactic Foam which is based on the addition of either carbon, lossy micro-ballooons, or lossy fibers into a base Syntactic Foam. Specific insertion loss values can be designed, or dielectric properties can be tailored to customer requirements.
Cuming Microwave also manufactures a series of Artificial Dielectric Materials. This product is based on the addition of metallic fillers into one of our Low Loss Syntactic Foam material systems. Artificial Dielectric materials are typically used when weight is an issue and standard dielectric materials cannot be used.
Cuming Microwave's series of Syntactic Foams are available in uncured pack-in-place, cured sheet stock, or molded to shape. The pack-in-place has the consistency of a snowball and is readily packed into complex shapes. Please contact Cuming Microwave's Technical Staff to discuss the specifics of your application.
